Do you need planning permission to install an outdoor fitness area?

As a general rule, an outdoor fitness area with equipment no higher than 2.50 m does not require full planning permission. A prior notification of works is nonetheless required in most cases, and some protected zones (Natura 2000 sites, the surroundings of listed buildings, conservation areas) can impose additional constraints.
